Funny Story, Really, I Swear!

So, I wrote this post about my dog Samantha, which somehow got erased when doing some updating. I have no backup for that post, so I'm rewriting it to the best of my knowledge.

Basically Sam was looking out our back window that looks out onto the back porch, there was a leaf that was being blown slightly by the wind. It really had her attention because every time it moved she growled as if it was alive. It was so funny that I asked my son to record it. Little did I know that his addiction to Snapchat would shorten my ability to show a really funny video. Grrrr, teens and their social addictions!

New Year Resolutions

Originally I built this blog for my website to write about different things I learned along the way in web design and development, but unfortunately I’ve gotten caught up with work and home life and neglected writing about anything new I learned. Then I had an epiphany, just because this website was originally built to showcase my work in web design, and hopefully bring new clients, that doesn't mean that this blog has to be solely dedicated to just web design and development. It’s my blog, and I can blog what I want to! :)

So, without further ado, here is my list of resolutions so far:

My Redesign of The Phantom Tollbooth Book Cover

Once again this post is about a project in one of my classes while at The Art Institute of Houston. This is probably getting repetitive, but even though my major was in web design there are some design and illustrations that I am quite fond of. My main profession may be as a web designer and developer but I also posses a passion for illustration and drawing, even if its mostly as a hobby or past time.

This poster was for an InDesign course, and may be one of my most favorite projects. The reason is because The Phantom Tollbooth was one of my favorite books as a child. My mum would read it to me over and over and I never tired of it. In my adult years I have read it again and again, and still enjoy it. I have my original copy from when I was a child and hope that one day my children will read it and enjoy it as much as I have. Well, my oldest is a typical teenager and is mostly into video games and air soft, but there is still hope for my younger two. :)

Ode To Breakfast At Tiffany's

During my time at The Art Institute of Houston I took an Illustrator course. One of our projects, and my most favorite, was to design a poster of any celebrity of our choosing. Since Audrey Hepburn is one of my all time favorite actresses, and Breakfast At Tiffany's is simply one of the best she has done, I chose to create an ode you could say to Breakfast At Tiffany's.

Things I Wish I Knew or Had Listened To When I Had the Chance

During my time in school at The Art Institute of Houston I took an InDesign course. One of the projects for that course was to design a poster titles "Things I Wish I Knew or Had Listened to When I Had the Chance." This was a list that many previous students had put together from previous semesters, and our class had to ad one to the list as well. The list is definitely good advice for any new comers to school, but it is also amuzing because there were and I'm sure still are a lot of students that find out important information the hard way.

The list is as follows:
