PERSONAL INFORMATION I COLLECT
When you visit the "Site", I automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the "Site", I collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the "Site", and information about how you interact with the "Site". I refer to this automatically-collected information as "Device Information."
I collect Device Information using the following technologies:
- "Log files" track actions occurring on the "Site", and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
- "Web beacons," "tags," and "pixels" are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the "Site".
You can opt-out to the creation of a user profile, Hotjar's storing of data about your usage of the "Site" and Hotjar's use of tracking cookies on other websites by following this opt-out link.
- The "Site" uses Google Analytics, a service which transmits website traffic data to Google servers. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. I use reports provided by Google Analytics to help understand website traffic and web page usage on the "Site".
To opt-out of Analytics for the web, visit the Google Analytics opt-out page and install the add-on for your browser. For more details on installing and uninstalling the add-on, please see the relevant help resources for your specific browser.
Updates to your browser or operating system may affect the functionality of the opt-out add-on. Learn about managing add-ons for Chrome here. If you are not using Chrome, check directly with the manufacturer of your browser to determine whether add-ons will function properly on the browser version that you are using.
The latest versions of Internet Explorer sometimes load the Google Analytics opt-out add-on after sending data to Google Analytics. Therefore, if you are using Internet Explorer, the add-on will set cookies on your computer. These cookies ensure that any collected data is immediately deleted from the collection server. Please make sure that third party cookies aren't disabled for your Internet Explorer browser. If you delete your cookies, the add-on will, within a short timeframe, reset these cookies to ensure that your Google Analytics browser add-on remains fully functional.
The Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on does not prevent data from being sent to the "Site" itself or in other ways to web analytics services.
Also, when using the AddThis sharing tools to share content on the "Site", the email address is only used to deliver the content to the intended recipient. It is not used for interest-based advertising, or for any other marketing purposes.
AddThis data collected on the "Site" indirectly identifies users. This data includes for example, Internet Protocol (IP) address, Mobile Advertising ID (MAID) (which allows mobile app developers to identify who is using their mobile apps), mobile application ID, browser type, browser language, type of operating system, and the date and time the user visited a Publisher Site or a user used the Toolbar; Behavior on a Publisher Site, such as how long a user visited the Publisher Site, a user's sharing behavior of content on a Publisher Site, and a user's scrolling behavior on a Publisher Site; The referring URL and the web search a user used to locate and navigate to a publisher site; Keywords entered into the AddThis Toolbar search functionality, and whether and when a user downloaded, installed, or uninstalled the AddThis Toolbar; Information regarding how often a user used the AddThis Tools and how often a user used the AddThis Toolbar; and Geo-location data derived from a user's IP address.
If you would prefer to not receive emails from people sharing with AddThis, you can opt-out here. This will prevent anyone sending you emails through AddThis, including people you may know and from whom you may wish to receive content.
If you would prefer that AddThis does not collect any non-personally identifiable information about your visits to the "Site", or any other website that uses AddThis, you can opt-out here.
HOW DO I USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
The Device Information the "Site" collects helps to screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize the "Site" (for example, by generating analytics about how visitors browse and interact with the "Site".
SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Finally, I may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information I receive, or to otherwise protect my rights.
DO NOT TRACK
Please note that the "Site" does not alter its data collection and use practices when a Do Not Track signal is detected from your browser. However, Hotjar honors the Do Not Track header, which means if you have the DNT header installed, Hotjar will not track you. You can read more about this here.
