Titanic II Maiden Voyage Tickets Drawing Big Interest & Big Wallets

A rep for the Blue Star Line says they've already received offers for 'more than a million dollars' from those looking to experience the maiden voyage.

Blue Star Line, which announced its plans to build Titanic II only weeks after the 100th anniversary of the original's sinking, has made significant strides this summer towards an expected construction start in China of later this year. These include the addition of Lloyd’s Register to review the design and safety features, Tillberg Design of Sweden to provide architectural and design services for the interior, and progress on the final plans and engineering designs.

High Demand for Maiden Voyage

Passengers will be able to buy a six-day ticket for one class, or a mixed ticket covering two days in each section. Prices have not been set yet although Palmer says he has already had offers from 16 people of between £500,000 and £850,000 for berths.

‘That’s not the sort of figure we’ll be asking but it shows the demand,’ he says, adding that 40,000 people have expressed an interest on his website bluestarline.com – an homage to the original Titanic operating company, the White Star Line.

Molly Brown Descendant Joins Titanic II Project

A descendant of famous American socialite and Titanic survivor, Margaret ‘Molly’ Brown, has agreed to join the advisory board of Blue Star Line Chairman Mr Clive Palmer’s Titanic II project. Mr Palmer said Helen Benziger – the great granddaughter of Molly Brown – will also be attending a black-tie dinner in New York on December 4 to mark the project’s global launch.
“Helen has agreed to join Blue Star Line’s Titanic II advisory board whose members will consist of descendants of crew and passengers of the original Titanic,” Mr Palmer said.

“These advisory board members will be tasked with providing suggestions and recommendations to Blue Star Line to ensure the Titanic II appropriately and respectfully pays homage to the original Titanic, its crew and passengers.”
